New turf
Real lawns, laid properly
A good lawn starts under the turf, and our customers describe the work that goes in. A DA14 customer describes extensive rotavation, then proper heat-treated topsoil mixed with sand, then the turf. In ME6 the ground was super hard to break up, and the new lawn was done in 2.5 days with clear instructions for aftercare.
- Old lawn or weeds cleared
- Ground broken up and topsoil prepared
- New turf laid with block or sandstone edging
- Artificial grass laid on a new base

Artificial grass
Artificial grass on a new base
Ross R in SE7 had a lawn dug up and removed, with a new base and AstroTurf laid, and the job done in two days. A customer in DA11 had artificial grass laid and said everything was completed to a high standard.
The advice runs both ways. Dunni I in SE3 wrote that Steve tried to help salvage the old astro rather than push for unnecessary spending, and Dunni I chose real grass in the end. Our guide Real turf or artificial grass for a family garden covers the choice.

A finished front lawn
Jane & Andrew wrote on TrustATrader that the team quickly cleared the ground and prepared the base before the grass was laid, and that they are very pleased with the final result. The photo is the one they attached to their review: the finished front lawn.

Delighted with the work of Steve and the team. I had a lawn dug up and removed, with new base and AstroTurf laid. Steve and the team worked really quickly, getting the job done in two days, and it looks great! Highly recommend Steve and the team, all super straightforward and work to a high standard

Common questions
How soon can we walk on new turf?
Keep off it as much as you can for the first couple of weeks while the roots take, and keep it watered unless it rains. Ask Steve how to look after it when the lawn is finished: one ME6 review mentions clear aftercare instructions.
Real turf or artificial grass?
Real grass is cooler underfoot and usually costs less to lay, but needs mowing, feeding and watering. Artificial grass needs very little upkeep but has to go on a properly built base. Steve lays both and will tell you which suits your garden.
Can you lay a lawn on hard ground?
Hard ground has to be broken up and prepared first. One ME6 review describes ground that was super hard to break up, cleared and laid as a new lawn in 2.5 days.
